A.P.W.A. COLORS

The Occupational Safety and Health Act requires that industrial plants color code safety equpment and hazardous areas with specific colors. Our aerosol color selection includes a full line of approved OSHA colors.

The American Public Works Association encourages public agencies, utilities, contractors and all groups involved in ground excavation to incorporate its standard system of subsurface facilities to prevent accidental damage, service interruption or injury. Use Utility Marking Paints to indicate locations and direction changes of buried lines.

OSHA WHITE, OSHA BLACK-
Designates traffic and housekeeping markings. Used in accordance with local conditions.
OSHA YELLOW -
Designates dangerous parts of machinery or energized equipment which could cause injury.
OSHA BLUE -
designates caution against starting or moving quipment being repaired.
OSHA RED -
Designates 'danger', 'stop' and the location of fire protection equipment and apparatus.
OSHA PURPLE -
Designates radiation hazards. Often used in combination with yellow on tags, labels, signs and floor markers.
SAFETY GREEN -
Designates "safety" and the location of first aid equipment (other than fire-fighting equipment).

for gas, oil, steam, petroleum or gaseous material
A.P.W.A. ORANGE -
for telephone, communication, alarm or signal cables or conduit
A.P.W.A. BLUE -
for water, irrigation and slurry lines
A.P.W.A. GREEN -
for surveying and general construction markings
